Overview
The string department of EAMT provides instruction in violin, viola, cello, double bass, harp, classical guitar and Estonian kannel performance. String studies provide grounding in established and proven tradition and performance theory, while also providing comprehensive instruction in contemporary performing practices. Students are encouraged to adopt both a broad and integrated approach in their main subject, in which they learn to combine technique, creativity, musicality and theory.
In addition to individual lessons, chamber ensemble and orchestra, students are also provided with opportunities to participate in master classes given by international guest professors and artists. Students are also encouraged to participate in a wide variety of creative projects, performing alongside professional musicians as well as their fellow students.
EAMT considers it vital that students be equipped with a wide range of skills, enabling them to succeed and adapt in today’s rapidly changing professional environment. It also allows string players to choose a path best suited to their unique individual academic and musical goals.
