EBS AND NOTTINGHAM TRENT UNIVERSITY START A JOINT DEGREE PROGRAMME

On January 10th Estonian Business School rector Professor Arno Almann signed a contract according to which EBS will open a joint dergee Master programme with Nottingham Trent University Business School in autumn 2013. The degree programme is called European Business and Finance.

The founder of EBS, Mr Madis Habakuk said the role of EBS is to create prerequisites for the business success of its graduates and this will be guaranteed by internationally competitive education.
EBS Rector Arno Almann says, this is yet again another step towards internationalization and offering EBS students education that makes them more competitive in the international labor market. “According to our knowledge, none of the other Estonian universities have a joint programme with foreign universities. EBS and NTU joint programme meets the quality requirements of Estonian as well as British higher education, students can study in Tallinn and Nottingham and gain joint diploma signed by both universities,” said Almann.

According to Professor Katri Kerem, the manager of the new programme, the aim of the joint MSc degree in European Business and Finance is to develop managers capable of working in a pan-European cross-cultural business environment. “The main focus for this programme is put on courses that cover different business-related subjects taking into consideration examples from Europe and the world. It is essential that the students see the bigger picture and are able to use the knowledge gained in classes in an international context,” says Kerem.

Students who are accepted into the new programme in 2013 will spend their first year at EBS, the first half of the second year at Nottingham and will return to Estonia for the last semester to write their Master’s Thesis. When graduating, the students receive a joint diploma signed by both universities. “The programme is adjusted and confirmed by both universities, also the faculty has gone through training sessions to make the teaching process acceptable for both, Estonian and British requirements,” explained Kerem.

In addition to the new Master’s joint programme, Estonian Business School also has a double degree programme at the Bachelor’s level. This is intended for International Business Administration programme Bachelor’s students who have the opportunity to study two years in EBS followed by two years in Lancaster University Management School in England where after successfully completing their studies, they receive degrees from both universities.
Nottingham Business School is a part of Nottingham Trent University located in the UK. There are over 24 000 students at NTU including over 2000 international students from 90 different countries. According to a survey from 2009 94% of NTU’s graduates from full-time undergraduate courses are employed or engaged in further study within six months after graduation, which makes NTU one of the top universities in England and Wales for its graduate employment rate.

The Estonian Business School (EBS) is the oldest private university in the Baltic States to offer business education. The school provides active and enterprising students with the academic basis for success. Business studies at EBS focus on the modern business environment in Europe considering the latest innovations and developments in the international business environment.
