Degree project proposal describing the Masters Degree Project (Independent Project) that the applicant wishes to undertake during the course. The Masters Degree Project (Independent Project) proposal is one of the most important elements in the application portfolio and should relate to at least some of the key features of the study programme – collaboration, cross- disciplinary interaction, new technologies and improvisation. Please attach the degree project proposal to your online application. Portfolio requirements: For composers: portfolio of compositions with scores or recordings (where scores are not applicable) of at least 3 contrasting original compositions with an overall duration of at least 15 minutes. In case of additional texts accompanying the scores (such as introduction, special information on context, or comments for performers), please provide an English translation. For performers: portfolio of recordings containing at least 2 contrasting excerpts with an overall duration of at least 15 minutes accompanied by the titles and authors of works in the order they appear on the recording. For composers/performers: portfolio containing the scores of at least 1 original composition, a recording of at least 1 performance and 1 work of the applicant’s choice with a combined duration of at least 15 minutes. In case of additional texts accompanying the scores (such as introduction, special information on context, or comments for performers), please provide an English translation. Printed scores must be sent in a binder. Accepted file formats: PDF, mp3, mp4. Accepted media: CD, DVD, USB-stick. Signed commitment letter confirming the authorship of the recordings/compositions. You will be able to include the link to your online portfolio on the application. Motivation letter outlining the aims and goals of the applicant with regard to the programme. Please note that applicants may be asked to send additional documents in accordance with the local regulations of each institution. All documents, including portfolio and Masters Degree Project (Independent Project) proposal, are evaluated by the jury of the institution where the applicant applies to. Applicants whose documents meet the requirements and reflect his/her necessary academic and artistic level are allowed to the second examination round (auditions). You will be able to fill the motivation letter in your online application.
Auditions are made to assure that the applicants meet the artistic level and, if necessary, to make a ranking list of the applicants. The auditions take place separately in four different institutions with a local jury. The result is pass or fail. If the number of applicants passing their audition equals, or is below, the number of study places the audition process is finished. The auditions are recorded. If the number of applicants passing the audition exceeds the number of study places, the recordings are finally evaluated by a joint international jury that consists of one member from each institution. Overview
CoPeCo is a two-year joint master´s programme in Contemporary Performance and Composition that offers students a open platform for experimental musical practice within a European setting.

Program goals
Masters in Contemporary Performance and Composition” (CoPeCo) is a joint masters programme for educating performers and composers used to creative interaction during the preparation and presentation of new music and having a high proficiency in working across disciplines and with new technologies.
Learning outcomes of program
On completion of the programme, the student is expected to:
Knowledge and Understanding
• demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the field of forward-looking music creation and performance, including involvement in current trends within contemporary musical life as well as in-depth knowledge regarding artistic processes in general and his/her own working methods in particular,
• demonstrate familiarity with methods and processes for dealing with complex
phenomena, issues and situations in the field of music creation and performance, and
• demonstrate knowledge and understanding of new media, its cultural contextualization in general and relation to the field of music specifically.
Skills and Abilities
• demonstrate an ability to create and execute his/her own artistic ideas with a developed personal expression; to identify, formulate and solve artistic and creative problems independently as well as plan and undertake advanced artistic tasks using appropriate methods within predetermined time frames, and thereby contribute to the artistic development and to evaluate this work,
• demonstrate an ability both nationally and internationally to clearly present and discuss his/her work and artistic issues in speech, writing or in other ways and in dialogue with musical life and society in general,
• demonstrate an ability to work closely and cross-disciplinarily with musicians as well as with practicians within other art forms,
• demonstrate capacity to work within an international framework, to exhibit initiative, responsibility, leadership and collaborative abilities, and
• demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to independently participate in and to work within musical life and other related fields of activities.
Judgement and Approach
• demonstrate an ability to make critical assessments in the field of music creation and performance with regards to relevant artistic, social and ethical issues,
• demonstrate ability to participate actively in society and demonstrate tolerance and respect towards diversity of attitudes and values
• demonstrate understanding of the possibilities and limitations regarding music, and its role in society, and
• demonstrate an ability to identify the need for additional knowledge and to take responsibility for his/her ongoing learning.
The content of study program
The programme is designed for 2 years (4 semesters) of studies. Each institution is responsible for organizing, carrying out and ensuring quality of academic work during one semester. The responsibility shall be divided as follows:
